Wire EDM

Wire EDM Kovar, Inconel, and Stainless Steel housings and frames for the Telecommunications and Hermetic Sealing industries.

Wire EDM For Production Runs

Coining’s EDM department supports small, medium, and large volume production runs with short lead times while maintaining industry-leading tolerance and surface finish requirements. Coining operates with Six Wire EDM machines, Two Sinker/Ram EDM machines, as well as an EDM drill.

Wire EDM Capabilities

  • Manufacture parts as large as 12 x 12 x 8”

  • Produce parts with inside corner radii as sharp as .006”

  • No limitation on outside corner radii sharpness

  • Materials include Alumel, Chromel, Kovar, Inconel, Titanium, Stainless Steel, CRS, Copper, Nickel, as well as all of the other hard to machine alloys

Wire EDM to Create Complex Features

In addition to manufacturing tooling components and making custom parts, Coining utilizes EDM machines to add secondary features to stamped and machined components where the feature's shape or location requires a complex geometry.

With creative fixturing and designing, Coining processes small and large volume orders efficiently and reliably.

Common secondary operations include slotting of Thermocouples,  forming solder cup heads on pins, and slotting of tines on connector sockets.

The slot on the Thermocouple Pin was manufactured as a secondary operation on the Wire EDM after being produced on the Swiss CNC machine.
